All the missionaries who got transferred |
Breakfast with our neighbors |
This week we had Gabino come to church again. He's progressing really well and we're hoping that he and his family start coming a lot closer to the Ward. We had a great first hour of church, because it was ward conference, and a terrible second hour, because instead of teaching about Christ or the Gospel, they talked about church policy in regards to Ward mission leaders, Elders quorum presidents and ward council. That was a very dificult thing to explain to our new guys that came.
On saturday, we had a rescue activity and went out with members to visit less active families who hadn't come for a while. I went with our ward mission leader, Hermano Ayala. He's a great member and a really good mission leader. we went and visited a lot of people, and it was really good to be with a member, because they just think of the gospel in such simple terms that when they invite people, the person just understands. I let him extend every invitation we did that day. Later, at the end of the activity, they bought KFC for everyone that came.
I now only have 3 transfers left until I have to finish my mission and go home. I'm really glad that I extended my mission, because I feel like If I was goin home in 3 months, I wouldn't have enough time to do everything I need/want to. It's been pretty hard for me to have weeks go by where I or my companion is sick. I don't have a lot of time left, and it's kinda hard to see the weeks go by, when I should be at my best. It's good. We spend lots of time trying to do what God has asked of us, and, as hard as it is, leaving behind old habits to achieve what God wants us to.
French toast with mango and apples from Bruno, our upstairs neighbor |
We had a Family Home Evening with the husband of our landlady. He isn't a member, and doesn't believe in God. He usually snickers at us when we do things like pray over the french toast his son gave us. But we kept it pretty casual, but we got to know him and his needs. We gave him a Book of Mormon and testified of it's truthfulness, and said that if he wanted proof that God was real, all he needed to do was follow the rules God has set to get to know him, like read and pray, asking to know the truth. He was very quiet and sincere with us when we invited him, and accepted. His wife said he had never been so receptive to the missionaries, and never been so respectful when they invited him to do things. I have high hopes for Hermano Hipólito.
Have a great week. Thanks for keeping me posted.
Bye!
