Week 86 - Our day with President!/Colitis

Picadas with President in our house
May 20, 2019

Chilpancingo must have been pretty wicked this week, because, despite our best efforts, we didn't have very much success with finding new people, and less with getting them to church. But, we did have two awesome people show up for church. One is named Elizabeth and she just needs to get married, but has problems with her boyfriend, for some reason he doesn't want to get married. The other is named Ave. Her daughter got baptized about 7 months ago, and today was her first time going to church since her daughter's confirmation. We finally got her to come! Our awesome ward mission leader and his family invited her to come and listen to and area sevanty and the YSA Choir. She finilly decided she would come!

On Friday we had a meeting with President Treviño and our stake president, Pres. Calixto. We talked about how missionary work is done best through simple, natural, friendly invitations for people to "Come and See" People like being included. He said that every time we have a ward activity, we should invite someone to it. There should never be an activity that we haven't invited people to. It is essential to the gathering of Israel and the bringing about the work and glory of God.

Cool Patricio Estrella stickers we saw
Saturday we did house checks with president. After, he invited us to some picadas(tortillas with queso oaxaca, salsa, and cream) We set some great goals on how we were going to have a great week this week, and as we went to lunch with members that day, we both got sick. Turns out I got colitis again and my companion got a stomach infection too. Oof.

Sunday was stake conference and we had a really cool time. The stake is so big that they don't fit in the stake center, so we had to have two sessions with Elder Flores. It was all about the simple love of God and the Plain truths of the Gospel. We were still sick so we didn't get to work much. Hopefully this week will be the good one!

I'm having fun in Chilpancingo here. We were one of the worst zones in the mission when I got here, and now we're making the comeback. I love being here, and I love getting to se the strength and power every missionary can bring to the table, whether they have 2 months or 2 years. God really does give us all the strength and power we need to do his work, because we can't do it with out him.

I know the church is true, and that the way we serve our missions is the way we'll live our lives. I won't live with any regrets in these last 5 months. Love you all! See you soon!
