Week 23 - Divisions, Sickness, and Investigators at church!

So, we didn't do a ton this week, but we did end up doing the three things listed above.

I've been sick for about a week and a half, and it's just now getting better. Luckily, they seel coughdrops as candy here, so it's actually pretty easy to find some when you need. Hopefully, I'll be better for next week.

We got haircuts AND I bought an awesome Mexico shirt.
We had divisions this week, and I was with Elder Murrane this time. He's going home next Wednesday. It was really cool for me to see how he works. He really knows what he's doing, and he's a really good missionary. He gave me some great tips on how to be a better missionary.

We got haricuts and sat on a lot of busses, but we found 2 new investigators. We had a really good time. We actually went looking for an investigator, and It said the address was #20 Calle Otilio montaña. But the address led us to A collapsed lot with only rubble. We were super confused...until we turned around and saw that the house behind us was also #20 Calle Otilio montaña. We ended up finding out that there are about ten #20's in the same Calle. I guess you can just pick what house number you are, no matter what. That's just Mexico for you, I guess.

Earthquake rubble at #20.  Fortunately there were many #20s.

We have been practicing a choir for about 3 weeks, and we finally preformed in ward conference yesterday. It sounded alright, but I couldn't sing, because my throat was messed up from being sick all week. I just played the songs as best I could. It was fine though. The whole choir was set up by our awesome Elder's quorum president, Hno Jesus. But he told us he and his family are moving to Puente de Ixtla, in the bottom half of the state. We'll be helping them move this friday. It's pretty sad, becasue he was one of the first members I really got comfortable talking to. We're really going to miss his support in the ward.

We also had over 180 people in the church on sunday. It was awesome. We've been working wtih the Plan de Area of Mexico a lot. The three main things are, Pay tithing and offerings, Keep the Sabbath day holy, and invite all. Well, our members did just that, and invited a bunch of new investigators to be taught. We had about ten in the church on Sunday. It rocked!

Things have been really good with my companion. We sat down and talked for more than 2 hours jsut making sure that we're on good terms, and going to work. He helped me see a lot of what I need to improve, and what I need to stop worrying about. Elder Contreras really is a good companion, and he's just what I need right now. It's awesome.
A dulceria - basically a candy store packed tighter than a Costco.

Today, we went bowling as a zone, and it was pretty fun. Elder Contreras said he didn't want to play, because when he was a kid, he went for a birthday party, and fell down in front of everyone. They all laughed at him, and he said that he would never play it again, and that it couldn't be that fun. Well, today, I told him. "I'm paying for 2 pairs of shoes and two spots. Are you going to make me waste my money?" I think that got him, because he put on the shoes and got ready. When it was his turn, he was asking all sorts of questions, like where to shoot, or how to throw the ball. We were just excited to see him suck at a game for once. Well, his first throw was a strike. He was actually upset, because he only got to throw the ball once, and everyone else threw twice.  He ended up winning both the games we played, and even got 4 strikes in a row. I guess we're still going to have to wait to see what games Elder Contreras isn't good at.

Don't worry.  I wasn't there to game.

Well, that's all for this week. Love you guys a lot, and be sure to live your life in a way that invites the blessings of god. The Stake preident said, Ïf you don't feel a desire to share the Book of Mormon, it's probably because you aren't reading it." So, Read that, if you aren't, and share it if you are. Love you. See you next week!
