Week 66 - White Boy Trio

To start off, I want to say goodbye to Elder Schmitz, who will be finishing his mission and going back to Firestone, Colorado on Wednesday. I salute you.
Last p-day with Elder Schmitz (middle) and new companion, Elder Pacheco.

It's been a really fun six weeks in Atzingo. The members of this ward are super nice. On Friday, Hna. Stefanie (The teacher for our English class) invited us over to say goodye to Elder Schmitz, and suprised us by inviting everyone from the English class! It was super fun. We ate tacos and talked a lot about Christmas traditions.

We had changes today, and I got my new companion for the next six weeks. His name is Elder Pacheco from Queen Creek, AZ. He only has 6 weeks more than me, and we're going to have a great time.

Elder Schmitz doesn't go home until Wednesday, and tomorrow, he'll be with President TreviƱo all day. But today, we're in trio. We had to write a little earlier today because some members wanted to say goodbye to him.

This Friday is the Christmas conference/fiesta. We're excited. A few Elders and I are doing a musical number of "O come O come Emmanuel" and it will be really good. That's also when we all get our Christmas packages, so I'll be excited to see what I get from Ol' Saint Nick

I've really been realizing the importance of the First Principles and Ordinances of the Gospel, (faith, repentence, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, enduring to the end) and how they are the base and center of our purpose on this earth. I really like how in the Book of Mormon, the prophets often say that the wrath of God will fall upon the people, or that they'll be cursed or destroyed, unless they repent. God doesn't want them to be punished. He just wants them to be happy, and He's done all that He can to warn them of the consequences of bad actions. He holds off for as long as He can before it becomes hopeless to wait any longer. He only punishes them because they give Him no other option. He's not some over-righteous God that will punish anyone who disobeys, because we all disobey. He only wants us to make it right and return to him.

Have a great week!
-Elder Scott
