Week 58 - La Quebrada, Rained out, and Divisions

Tag pic above the beach in Acapulco
This week we didn't do much. We've stopped seeing a ton of success here, but it still goes. I love it, and it's been really fun with Elder Zetten. He's a great companion, and he never complains about anything. He just buckles down and does it.

Waiting out the monsoonal rainstorm
We were trying to go to an appointment on Thursday, but it started to rain. As it rains every day, we weren't too worried and went anyways. But this time was so much worse. Instead  of going to the lesson, we sat underneath a little shack we found for an hour until th rain let up. There was so much rain! People's cars were turning off, because water was getting inside. The streets FLOOD here.

Saturday, we went on divisions with the Zone Leaders, and we had about a half day. We went out with Elder Bolster and Elder Ortiz, who, if you've been following recently, are not strangers to us.

Elder Bolster started his mission here, so the branch president invited the four of us to eat fish at a beachside restaurant. It was a great time. We got some pictures as close to the water as we could get, and we had a blast.

President Salas told us to order, "whatever catches your eye," and so I tried octopus for the first time. It was delicious. Elder Ortiz really liked it, because its one of the last things he'll do in the mission before he finishes up and heads home.

Today for p-day we went to this super touristy part of Acapulco called the Quebrada, where people go and cliffdive and its super pretty. Here are some pictures(below) Its really easy to tell that Acapulco used to be a massive tourist attraction, but now its just kinda ugly. Tere are so many hotels, and tourist places, but there's never anyone there. Today was the first time We had seen a Cruise Ship in the bay.

Trust me, the beach or acapulco in general are not nearly as fun in a shirt and tie. It just gets hot and sweaty.

La Quebrada - the cliff diving place
I love that the church is focusing so much more on Family Home Evening. It's honestly the most effective way to teach children in the home, and I love what Elder Bangerter said in the conference, about how it's less important that they understand, and more important to build the habit of doing it.

Have a great week. I hope we have as much success this week as we had fun last week!
-Elder Scott

I'll send some more pictures in a sec...
