So, this whole week has been pretty cool, but not a ton has happened.
This whole week has been baptismal planning, because we had two baptisms!
The first was on Friday. It's this little girl named Naomi. She's 9, and she was super excited to get baptized. Her mom is also being taught, but she can't get baptized for a few more weeks, because she has to get married first. Well this little girl would not wait for her mom. She wanted to get baptized now. It was super cool because she really knew it was true.
Naomi's baptism day |
On that note, her Dad is actually a member. We have been trying to think of ways to reactivate him, then we thought about the Patriarchal Blessing. We gave a quick little lesson about it, and he's really excited to get his. he also needs to get married first, but he has been having lots of spiritual experiences, which just goes to show God's love for people, and that he knows what's in your heart. This week, this hermano needed to pay all his debts and bills, and his tithing. He didn't know what to do , but he knew to pay his tithing. He wasn't sure how they were going to make it through the week, cause they're a little strapped for cash at the moment. Well, as soon as they payed all their bills, a guy came up to his hamburger stand and ordered almost 500 pesos worth of food. That was the blessing that he needed, adn he can't wait to receive more. God won't withhold blessings from him just because he's not married yet, and this Hermano knows it.
Alexander's baptism day |
The other baptism was for Alexander. He's only 8, but he took all the lessons really well. He reads the book of Mormon and his mom has a great testimony. His dad isn't a member, so we're hoping to start teaching him.
Elder Contreras and I have decided to start upping our missionary game. These last two weeks have been kinda slow with baptismal planning, but we can't let that make us tired and lazy We're gonna be kicking trash this transfer!
We sang a musical number for Alexander's baptism, and I'll get that video to you guys soon!
We had a great talk with this Hno. named Hno Miguel. He plays piano and sang with us in the musical number. He's not in our ward, or even our stake, but he directed the Choir for christmas, and told us that if we ever wanted to do a musical number, we should set one up with him, and he'd come up from Iguala to sing with us. Well, that day, he treated us to IHOP, and man, was that good. He started talking to us about how we shouldn't call say things like Dude, or bro, to eachother. Not because those things are bad by any means, but theyre very carnal. They remind us of who we were, not who we are. And when we were set apart as missionaries, we were set apart from the Carnal, and worldly. There's something about it on PG 4 of preach my gospel. It's really good.
