Week 72 - Sick Week

Not our best week here in Atzingo. Elder Pacheco and I got sick on Wednesday, and that's how the whole week went. I was throwing up on wednesday, my companion Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It was a slow week. But on tuesday we had a great meeting with our Stake President, President Munguía. Great guy.

We had two new people in church on Sunday, and they both really liked it. We had few problems with our People we're teaching, mainly because we couldn't visit them this week at all. Bette luck next week.

Today is changes, and It looks like Elder Pacheco and I are staying together for another 6 weeks. I haven't had this much time with a companion since June. I'm really excited to work the}is week. I think we're going to have a lot of success coming soon.

Last Night we hung out with a few missionaries who are up here to train a new missionary, and that was really fun. Most of them had a lot less time than me, and it was weird to think that I won't be seeing these missionaries at the height of their missions. I'll be home then. Weird thought.

Sorry I have not pictures or Voice recordings. I am completely technologyless. I'll try to remember to get those to you guys next week. Sorry

I really like getting to meet the new missionaries like we did today. They're just starting, an they're so full of light. This mission is getting tons of new great missionaries!

Have a great week!

Week 71 - Poco a poco, Lentamente

This week was super cool. We found a new guy named Arturo. His wife has been a member for more than 30 years, but they lived in a little, tiny town in Oaxaca for a long time, and so he's never heard hardly anything about the Church. We're on it.

Friday, we had a special interview with president, where he talked to us about a few really important things he's changing in our zone, and in the mission. He talked to us about how to use the Book of Mormon, and how we need to have a stronger light than others, so they have the desire to have what we do. It was one of the coolest experiences I've had here in the mission.

Saturday, we had divisions with the APs and had a great time there. I went with Elder Gillins to Palmas. Elder Gillins was in my MTC group, and was companions with Elder Winegar. We had some good lessons with some of the members and we were given Pozole (a Spanish soup that's pretty good) We had a great time and really felt guided by the Lord.

Sunday we had eight people who were for sure coming to church. But no one came. What can ya do I guess.

Week 70 - El Salto Chico/Visiting Idaho

So, a week ago, we found a waterfall in our area, and that was pretty cool. It's 37 meters in height, and it's pretty cool. It's called the Salto Chico. It was pretty dirty, but cool nonetheless.

We had new years with the Rivero Family on monday night, but we could only stay until 9:30 so it wasn't that cool.

On thursday, we had consejo, and we invited the Zone Leaders from Galeana and Acapulco to come play som games with us the night before.  Consejo was awesome! Every meeting we have with President Treviño, I just know he was chosen and called by God to be our mission President. I'm really learning a lot of ways to be a better leader, and help others to improve.

Week 69 - A visit from Gabe's Friends

This week we got a very brief email from Elder Scott late on P-day telling us there would be no email from him until next week.  We hope they were doing something super fun on P-day that kept them from writing home.

Meanwhile, we received a visit from Elder Schmitz and Elder Winegar on New Year's Eve to deliver our Christmas gifts from Mexico.  Elder Schmitz was Gabe's companion prior to returning home last month.  He brought us gifts that Gabe had picked out for us in Mexico and a handwritten letter that we cherished!  Elder Winegar was in Gabe's MTC group in Mexico City and has been home recuperating and preparing to go back to the mission field this month.  We loved meeting both of them!
